Overview
The Play Assistant is your in-app helper in the Admin Portal. It answers questions, walks you through tasks, and recommends relevant actions — all without leaving the page you're working on.
The Assistant is page-aware: it adapts its suggested prompts, examples, and recommended actions to whatever you're currently doing — whether that's setting up a season, managing registrations, or reviewing payments.
Help articles and tutorial videos appear directly inside Assistant responses, so there's no need to switch to the help centre or search YouTube to find answers.

What you'll need before starting
To use the Play Assistant, make sure you have:
- Administrator access to your organisation in the Admin Portal
No other setup is required — the Assistant is available automatically once it has been enabled for your sport.
Opening the Assistant
There are two ways to open the Play Assistant:

From the homepage tile
Navigate to the Admin Portal homepage and click the Assistant tile to start a conversation.

From the on-page prompt
If you stay on a page for a short while, an animated prompt appears next to the page title. Click it to open the Assistant pre-loaded with help for that specific page.
Once open, the Assistant is ready to answer questions about the page you're on.
Getting page-specific help and using recommended actions

Ask a question or pick a suggested prompt
Type your question into the Assistant, or select one of the suggested prompts — these are tailored to the page and tab you're currently viewing.

Use recommended actions
The Assistant suggests actions that move your work forward, such as Walk through, Auto-message, Bulk-approve, Draft, or Clone. Select an action to have the Assistant guide you through it step by step.

View help content inline
Help articles and tutorial videos render directly inside the Assistant's responses. Read or watch them without leaving the conversation.

Get answers about your organisation
Ask the Assistant for data-specific insights about your organisation, such as:
- How many competition registrations do you have in a specific category?
- How does your participation compare this year to last year?
- What are people buying in the shop?
- Are there any trends in your incidents?
💡 Tip: Page-specific help is rolling out gradually. On pages where it isn't available yet, the Assistant still answers general questions as normal.
Completing setup tasks with the Tasklist
The Tasklist works alongside the Play Assistant to guide you through important setup steps before your season begins. It surfaces structured tasks such as:
- Adding your organisation's bank details
- Updating organisation contacts
- Accepting your season invitation
- Setting up your registration form
Work through the Tasklist items in order — each task links directly to the relevant page in the Admin Portal. Once all items are complete, your organisation is ready for the season.
Frequently asked questions
What is the prompt that appears next to my page title?
That's the Play Assistant offering contextual help for the page you're on. Clicking it opens the Assistant with that page's context already loaded. You can ignore it — it doesn't block anything on the page.
Who can use the Assistant?
Any administrator signed in to the Admin Portal can use the Play Assistant. No additional permissions are required.
Which sports have access to the Assistant?
The Assistant is available to all admin tenants, including basketball, netball, AFL, cricket, and rugby.
Does the Assistant work on every page?
Page-specific help is being enabled page by page. On pages without it yet, the Assistant continues to answer general questions as normal.
Can the Assistant make changes to my data?
Recommended actions guide you through tasks step by step — you stay in control and confirm each change yourself.
What if the Assistant doesn't answer my question?
You can contact your sport's support team via the Contact Us page.
