Overview
The Milestones widget is an honour board for your club website that celebrates every player who has reached a games-played milestone, in your club's colours. It builds itself from your club's PlayHQ competition data, so there's nothing to set up or type in.
Players are grouped into milestone tiers (for example 50, 100, 150, 200 games and beyond), with the biggest milestones at the top. As players take the field each week, they move up the board automatically.
The widget is available for AFL, basketball and netball clubs and is included with PlayHQ Websites. You can also:
- Add games played before your club used PlayHQ, so long-serving players get proper credit
- Add past players who never had a PlayHQ profile, such as life members and club legends
- Combine your junior and senior clubs into one board if they're separate organisations in PlayHQ
Adding the Milestones widget to your site
It takes about two minutes, and the widget connects to your club automatically.
-
Open the editor
Open your site in the PlayHQ Websites editor.
-
Choose a page
Go to the page you want the board on. Most clubs use a Stats, History or About page.
-
Find the widget
Open the widgets panel and find Club Milestones.
-
Add it to the page
Drag the widget onto the page.
-
Preview and publish
Preview the page to check your players are showing, then click Publish when you're happy.
💡 Tip: The first load can take a little while. If your club is new to the widget, the board can take a few minutes to fill while it loads your club's history. Larger clubs with many seasons may take up to 20 minutes. You don't need to do anything while it loads.
What visitors see
Visitors see a single honour board showing every milestone your players have reached, grouped into tiers from the highest milestone down.
- Each player appears in the tier for the highest milestone they've reached, with their total games for the club.
- Players with games added by the club show a club records badge. Past players added by the club show a past player badge.
- The board footer shows "Powered by PlayHQ" and a link to explore more on PlayHQ, matching your other PlayHQ stats widgets.
The admin tools described below never appear on your published site. Only you see them, inside the editor.
⚠️ Privacy: Players whose PlayHQ profile is set to private are never shown on the board.
How games are counted
The board counts every game a player has played for your club in PlayHQ, across all seasons, teams and grades. The total matches the club games shown on the player's profile on playhq.com.
| Type | What's included |
|---|---|
| Counted | League and club competition games for your club, including older seasons |
| Not counted | Games played for other clubs, and tournament games by default |
| Added by you | Any club records you add (see below), added on top of the PlayHQ total |
New games appear on the board automatically, usually within a day of results being finalised in PlayHQ.
💡 Tip: Check the player's profile first. If a player's total looks wrong, check their profile on playhq.com. If the games are missing there too, the fix is in PlayHQ (for example, the player wasn't added to the team sheet), not in the widget.
Adding games from before PlayHQ
Club records let you credit games played before your club used PlayHQ, so a 15-year veteran isn't shown on 40 games. Records only change games played on this board. Points and other statistics stay exactly as they are in PlayHQ.
To open the club records tools, open your site in the editor (or preview), go to the page with the widget and click Manage club records.
Add games to a current player
-
Start a record
Click Add a player.
-
Find the player
Start typing the player's name and select them from the list.
-
Enter prior games
Enter the number of games they played before PlayHQ. Optionally, add a source, such as "Club records 1998 to 2015".
-
Check and save
Check the preview, which shows their new total and milestone, then click Save.
The board updates straight away in the editor. Publish your site so visitors see the change.
Add a past player
Use this for people who played before PlayHQ and have no PlayHQ profile, such as life members.
-
Enter their name
Click Add a player and type their full name.
-
Add as a past player
When they don't appear in the list, select Add as a past player.
-
Enter their games
Enter their total games for the club and an optional source.
-
Save
Click Save.
The preview shows a warning if the games total is below your lowest milestone, as the player won't appear on the board until they reach it.
If a past player later turns up in PlayHQ (for example, they come back as a masters player), click Link next to their name and select their PlayHQ profile. Their club records move across and the two entries become one.
Add many players from a spreadsheet
This is the quickest way to load your club's historical records in one go.
-
Download the CSV
In Manage club records, click Download CSV. The file lists every player on your board.
-
Update existing players
Fill in the Prior games column (and Source if you like) for the players you want to update. Don't change the Profile ID column.
-
Add past players
Add new rows with the name in Player, their games in Prior games and the Profile ID left blank.
-
Import the file
Click Import from spreadsheet and choose your file.
-
Review the preview
Review the preview table. Rows that aren't numbers, or that don't change anything, are skipped and flagged.

-
Apply and publish
Click Apply, then publish your site.
Edit or remove a record
Open Manage club records, find the player in the list and click Edit. Change the games, or remove the record to return the player to their PlayHQ total. Every change is logged, so a mistake can always be undone.
Combining your junior and senior clubs
If your club is set up as two organisations in PlayHQ (for example, a junior club and a senior club), you can link them so the board shows one combined history. A player's games at both clubs are added together.
-
Open Linked clubs
Open Manage club records. Linked clubs is the first section.
-
Start a link
Click Link another club.
-
Find the other club
Search for the other club by name, or paste the link to its page on playhq.com.
-
Confirm
Confirm the club, and it's linked.
You don't need approval from the other organisation. Linked clubs also combine on your Club Statistics leaderboards.
If the linked club hasn't been loaded before, its players appear over the next 20 minutes or so. Your own club's players stay on the board the whole time.
To unlink, click Remove next to the club. Its games stop counting on your board straight away. Club records you've added always stay with your site.
Frequently asked questions
The board is empty. What should I do?
If you've just added the widget, give it up to 20 minutes to load your club's history, then refresh the page.
Why is a player missing from the board?
Check that they've reached your lowest milestone and that their PlayHQ profile isn't private. Private profiles are never shown.
Why is a player's total different from what I expected?
Compare it with their club games on playhq.com. The board matches PlayHQ, plus any club records you've added. Tournament games aren't counted.
Why can't I see Manage club records?
The button only shows inside the editor or preview, never on your live site. If you're in the editor and it's still missing, reload the page.
I've saved a change but visitors can't see it. Why?
Publish your site. Changes show in the editor straight away but only go live once you publish.
Can I change points or other stats?
No. Club records only change games played on this board. All other statistics come from PlayHQ.
Still stuck?
Contact PlayHQ Support with your club name and a screenshot of the board.
