Overview
Electronic scoring in PlayHQ enables real-time game management for basketball competitions. Scorers can manage lineups, track points and fouls live, manage the clock in each half or quarter, and create a complete record of match statistics. Game scores must be finalised by a referee to complete the scoring process.
For Basketball England competitions, e-scoring also captures the match officials working the game and collects a digital signature from each of them before the result can be submitted.
The play-by-play logs of games are available in MyHoops (Aus) and HoopsHQ (Basketball England) game centres.

Coach sign-off on starting lineups
Tip: This feature is currently in beta testing for Basketball England only.
Where a grade has player positions enabled, coaches assign starting positions and confirm starting positions with a name and signature.
- Provide a Signature The coach provides a mandatory name and signature to confirm the starting lineup.
Once captured, the coach's name and signature are stored against the game and appear in Game Day under the relevant team's view after the game finishes.
Adding match officials and digital signatures
Note: This functionality is currently only available for Basketball England competitions. It does not yet apply to Basketball tenants in Australia.
Once both team lineups have been confirmed, Basketball England games require the match officials to be recorded and to digitally sign off before the game can be submitted.
-
Confirm Game Officials After confirming team lineups, the Confirm Game Officials step will appear. This step is mandatory and cannot be skipped.
-
Enter Official Names Enter a name for each applicable official role:
- Crew Chief (Head Referee) — mandatory
- Scorer — mandatory
- Umpire 1
- Umpire 2
- Assistant Scorer
- Timer
- Shot Clock Operator
All names are entered as free text and must be at least 3 characters long.
- Collect Digital Signatures Before the game can be submitted, every official entered in the previous step must provide a digital signature.
Important: Game submission is blocked for Basketball England games until all required officials have provided their digital signature.
Once signed off, the officials' names and confirmation that signatures were captured are visible to admins in the Officials tab of the relevant game centre in the Admin Portal. This information is not shown on public game centres.
