What is a game allocation?
A game allocation is basically the scheduling of a game to be played at a venue/playing surface on at a particular date and time.
Games can be allocated to venues / playing surfaces (courts/fields):
- After a grade's fixture has been generated in Domestic and Tournament competitions
- While a grade's fixture is being generated in Home & Away competitions
There are four ways to view / edit game allocations in PlayHQ:
- Allocating games using the Season>Allocations Calendar View
- Allocating games using Season>Allocations Game Slots (Domestic Competitions, only)
- Allocating games using the Season>Allocations List View
- Allocating games from the Game Details page (accessed via Fixture)
This article provides a high-level overview of the allocation methods found in the Season>Allocations area of a Competition Season in the PlayHQ admin portal.
Accessing the Season>Allocation area
Select the Competition Management main menu item, and then the appropriate Competition and Season tile, and then select the Allocations tab.
Season Allocation menu
Within the Season Allocation menu, you will see a tab called Games.
More on this below, but it is worth noting that, if you are working in a season of a Domestic competition, you will also see a tab for Game Slots. If you would like to learn more about Game Slots, please see this article.
Working with Game Allocations
Note that when games are fixtured for a Domestic or Home & Away competition, the are not allocated to venues / playing surfaces and times, by default - they will have been assigned a round date as part of the fixturing process, however.
Months
Once at least 1 fixture has been generated in a season, the Game Allocations area will display a list of Months in which season games have been scheduled for in the particular Competition Season you are working in.
You will also be able to see how many games are allocated out of the total amount of games that need to be allocated in that month for the Competition Season you are working in e.g. x / y
If there is at least 1 clash in the month that involves a game from the Competition Season you are working in, you will see a red triangle indicating that you will need to resolve the clash.
You may click on the expand (upside down triangle) to expand out dates within the month.
Dates
Once a month is expanded, you will see the dates for which games have either been scheduled to (if fixtured but unallocated) and / or allocated to.
Similar to the months, you will be able to see how many games are allocated out of the total amount of games that need to be allocated for that date in the Competition Season you are working in e.g. x / y
If there is at least 1 clash on a date that involves a game from the Competition Season you are working in, you will see a red triangle indicating that you will need to resolve the clash.
If all games are allocated and there are no clashes involving a game from the Competition Season you are working in, you will see a green tick appear for the date.
When you click the View button for a given date, you will be taken to that date's Calendar View. Please see this article for more information on this.
