Differences between Abandoned game & Cancelled game
In the event of an abandoned game, the contest has usually begun and required to be stopped, and cannot resume due to various circumstances (i.e. rain, unsafe playing conditions, etc). When a game is marked as an abandoned game, the below occurs:
- the abandoned game outcome points are applied to the ladder as per the grade ladder settings
- the teams involved in the game are attributed with a game played in the ladder
- the teams involved in the game receive any scores entered in the game in the ladder (i.e. points for, points against, runs scored, wickets taken etc are added to the ladder)
- the players selected in the teams receive one game played in their statistics and towards finals eligibility
- the players selected in the team receive any game statistics that are entered for the game (i.e. points scored, fouls, goals kicked, runs scored, wickets taken etc)
In the event of a cancelled game, the contest is usually unable to begin due to various circumstances, and is cancelled prior to the beginning of the contest. When a game is marked as a cancelled game, the below occurs:
- the cancelled game outcome points are applied to the ladder as per the grade ladder settings
- the teams involved in the game are not attributed with a game played in the ladder
- the teams involved in the game do not receive any scores entered in the game in the ladder (i.e. points for, points against, runs scored, wickets taken etc are not added to the ladder)
- the players selected in the teams do not receive any game played in their statistics or towards finals eligibility
- the players selected in the team do not receive any game statistics that are entered for the game (i.e. points scored, fouls, goals kicked, runs scored, wickets taken etc)
It is the decision of the association / league to determine the appropriate game status to apply to a game depending on the individual circumstances of the game. Any questions about which game status to use, please contact your association / league for confirmation.
