How automated suspensions work

In Football only, if a player is assigned a red card they will automatically receive a 1-week suspension. This applies to red cards entered via the Admin Portal, My Teams (including via direct referee integration), or e-Scoring.

An incident will automatically be created after the red card entry is saved, along with the outcome of "Guilty - Suspension" for 1 week starting the day after the match.

Suspensions are sport-wide

A player cannot be selected for any team or competition within any organisation in the same sport, during their suspension period.

Finding automated suspension incidents

Automated suspensions can be viewed a number of ways within the Admin Portal:

  • Within the match - go to the match where the red card occurred, and open the Incidents tab
  • Via the Incidents Menu (Associations only) - navigate to the Incidents section from the main menu
  • On the Player's Profile - open the participant’s profile, and the incident and suspension status will be visible

While a player is serving a suspension, they will appear as "Suspended" in the platform. They cannot be added to a game line up if the match date falls within the suspension period. The incident type will be listed as "Behaviour – Card".

Association Administrators can view and edit all incident details, while Club Administrators can only see that players are suspended but cannot view incident details or make changes.

Managing suspensions

This information is for Association Administrators only

Only League/Association Administrators can edit or remove automated suspensions.

Edit suspension Remove suspension
  1. Navigate to the incident via the Incidents menu or Incidents tab within a specific match
  2. Click Edit in the Outcome section
  3. Modify the suspension duration, change the outcome (e.g. convert to a fine), add an incident note, or remove this entirely
  4. Click Save to apply changes

Current limitations

Combined "suspension & fine" outcomes are not yet supported. Email notifications for suspensions are coming in a future update. Yellow card accumulation support is coming soon to automated suspensions, as well as extensions to support other sports disciplinary processes.
