What are player points?

Player points ensure competitions are balanced. Points are assigned to players based on their playing history, and teams may have a maximum point total they cannot exceed.

Enabling player points

Enabling player points will display them in the admin portal, electronic scoring, and (if set to visible) the PlayHQ public site.  Only association and league admins can activate player points.

To enable player points:
  1. Select Competition Management main menu item, then the appropriate Competition and Season tile, and view the Grades tab.
  2. Select the grade, then the Settings tab, and Game sub-tab.
  3. In the Player points section, toggle on the setting and choose whether to enforce a team total player points cap. If yes is selected, you will need to set the Team player points cap.
  4. Select Update & Save to apply changes.

Club admin access to enter points

You can enable club administrators to manage player points for their players during a specific timeframe.

Setting up club admin access:
  1. Enable Club admins access to player points in the Club management settings.
  2. Set the start date/time and end date/time to define when club admins can enter and edit player points.
  3. After the end date, club admins will have read-only access to player points.

Managing player points

Player points are available to edit for all players in a season, regardless of grade settings. This accommodates players who may participate in multiple grades, some with player points enabled.

To manage player points:
  1. Within your chosen Competition and Season, select More via the menu.
  2. Select Player points.
  3. Enter player point values for players in the season and select Update Changes.

For AFL users

If a player has multiple registrations or a season permit to the season, they will only show once on this list. Player points assigned will apply to all their participant records.

Filtering options

Several filters are available to help you find specific teams or players:

Date of birth (DOB) Players Status
Filter by players, From DOB and To DOB to narrow down your search by age range.

Player points with enforced team caps

How enforced team caps work

When team caps are enforced, the total player points in a team lineup cannot exceed the team's cap limit.

Key points about enforced team caps:
  1. Teams are given a team total player points cap via grade settings.
  2. Association administrators can override individual team total player point caps to increase or reduce the limit based on a team's success or if they require additional assistance.
  3. When selecting team lineups in the Admin Portal, Electronic Scoring, or My Teams, the lineup cannot go over the points limit to ensure fair competition.

Player points without enforced team caps

How non-enforced player points work

Even without enforced team caps, players are still required to have player points assigned to participate.

Key points about non-enforced team caps:
  1. Players in teams are required to have player points via grade settings.
  2. When selecting team lineups in Admin Portal, Electronic Scoring, or My Teams, players without assigned points cannot be selected in the lineup.
  3. There is no maximum cap on the total team points.
